2016
The Hoopsfix All-Star Classic was back in Brixton for its third edition in 2016, and was fast becoming the top junior showcase in the country.
Under-17 Men’s Game
Team Black produced a strong second half display to come from behind and beat Team White 93-73 in the 2016 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic Under-17 game in front of a sellout crowd at Brixton Recreation Centre.
Zion Tordoff led Team Black with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and also added six rebounds and four steals to claim the MVP award.
Sesan Russell provided support with 17 points in an energetic display, while Brian Amabilino nearly had a double-double after finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds in the 20-point win.
Dunk Contest
1997 born Amin Adamu shut Brixton Rec down with his final dunk on a self oop off the bounce, off the backboard from half court.
Adamu beat out tough competition from CoLA and Peckham Pride teammate Gedi Juozapaitis in the final, while George Darling, Caleb Fuller, Charles Yassi-Pepin and Moses Byekwaso were all eliminated in the first round.
Adam impressed the judges, who were GB Senior men capped players Dan Clark, Joe Hart, Paul Guede, GB Senior Women’s player Jamila Thompson, and last year’s Hoopsfix All Star Classic dunk contest winner, Myles Laurent-Smart.
Under-19 Men’s Game
Team White claimed an 83-77 victory over Team Black in the 2016 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic Under-19 game in front of a sellout crowd at Brixton Recreation Centre.
RJ Eytle-Rock claimed MVP honours in his third HASC appearance after contributing 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and six steals in the win.
Kyle Carey supported RJ with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Sam Japhet-Mathias joined them in double figures with 12 points for Team White.
For Team Black, James Lloyd had 12 points without a miss, while Amin Adamu added 10 points.
